30 Second Beer Review: Alvarado Street Brewery PILS
Most craft breweries making a German Pilsner reach for convenience — commercially available German malt, pellet hops, clean lager yeast. Alvarado Street did none of that. PILS is built on floor malted German Pilsner malt, Tettnang and Mittelfrüh hops in whole cone form, and Augustiner yeast — the house strain of Augustiner-Bräu, Munich’s oldest independent brewery, founded 1328. Then it’s spunded and horizontally lagered for six weeks.
