30 Second Beer Review: Icicle Brewing Company Dragontail IPA

Dragontail Peak rises to 8,840 feet above Colchuck Lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness east of Seattle — one of the most dramatic summit profiles in the Cascades, its ridgeline dropping sharply from the peak like the tail of a dragon frozen in granite. It’s an appropriately ambitious name for Icicle Brewing’s flagship IPA, a 2024 World Beer Cup Gold Medal winner that earns the most celebrated geography in Chelan County. This is Icicle’s most decorated beer — a modern take on the West Coast IPA that splits the difference between the classic piney-resinous tradition and the tropical-forward contemporary style, producing something that won gold on the world stage from a Leavenworth brewery that most judges outside the Pacific Northwest wouldn’t have seen coming.
