REtransmit
I am not ashamed to admit I am still “green” when it comes to amateur radio. After passing my exam and receiving the Extra Amateur license I know I still have A LOT to learn. But this is a hobby where constant learning is something that is actively happening on a daily basis, as with life.
Since I started working DX station on PSK31 using Digipan 2.0 I have always wondered how my signal is that I send. I have received good reports from many individuals, but one thing was wrong. I knew it was wrong too, but why it went unchecked for over 12 months I can’t answer.
I happened upon a post at eHam.net discussing how much power should be used when transmitting. Well prior to today I had been using the incorrect power setting when transmitting. I was setting the transmitter to 30 watts when it should have been set to 100 watts (or High).
Once this was set I had to back off the signal through the interface (RIGblaster Pro) in order to accomplish my desired power output of 25 watts. So far, since the change in power setting I have made two QSOs both with ‘599’ RST reports, one in Minnesota and the other in Ohio.
Let the QSOs continue…
