Flight Sim Goes Real
More surfing the Internet, which seems to be all I do at work has yielded many great results when it comes to building your own flight simulator. Yeah, you heard me right. My own. It’s quite possible it would not move, but I don’t think that is really the main issue. Maybe it is, There are some plans for $15 that provides you the instructions to build a moving simulator, just add monitor, flight stick, rudder pedals and HOTAS and you are good to go!
But that is only the start, there are some developers who are going balls out creating full blown simulators from planes like the Boeing 747, 777 and many others. Pretty amazing to see the ingenuity and technical plans for these sim, as glass cockpits light up, displaying correct information, which knobs and toggles switches are fully functional.
Now, I am looking for a computer upgrade to support my new MS Flight Simulator X, but many arrows are pointing to DX10 and Windows Vista to fully take advantage hardware. That leads me to believe I should hold off until 2007 and see what sort of development advancements have been made for FSX at that time.
You want to see some amazing sims, just Google “flight sim building” and be amazed at what some simmers do!
