Wanted: New Employer

I have spent the past 4 hours looking for new, potential employers. I still have not accomplished my New Year’s resolution, but I have made progress. I have contacted a resume writer who will help me improve my current resume (which leaves a lot to be desired). Along with a professional, I have enlisted the services of a former manager, whom I really admire and turn to in times like this. He is the best manager I have ever worked for, and that I actually wanted to work for. He was really honest and upfront with the employees and that made a real impression on me.

Unfortunately for me he moved on professionally from the airlines, but with his skills, experience and education, he will definitely find another employer. Heck, he said he would even hire me, since he really enjoys my work ethic. Makes me feel good about myself that I can make an impression on someone above me.I told myself there was really no reason to look for a new job without having an updated resume. I cannot tell you how tired I am of scanning Monster.com. But, with that said, I have received two interviews and one phone call from employers, so I won’t say it doesn’t work, but it just seems so impersonal.

Instead of looking for a job, I was looking at states I wanted to live in and worked backwards. Montana was one of the states on the top of my list, followed by Utah and Oregon. it is with much regret to say I did not really find anything promising. Yet! I do feel confident I will not be working for this airline come the end of 2006. With that said, we might not be living in California either. I don’t think that would be a bad trade off, new job, new city and state.

I will be talking to my friend today and meeting with him before the week is over and should be able to provide the resume writer with the necessary information they asked for.
