Ahhhh…stop this madness!!! It is just great to see all the support for Urban Terror over on the Urban Terror Forums. So much support in fact, that there are three new mapping forums for all those interested in getting help, tossing out an idea or pimping your latest map. The new forums fall under Level Design & Editing and consist of, Technical Support & Questions, Ideas & Suggestions and Level Previews, Reviews & Releases. Now we can go and get those kick ass screen shots without wading through techno-babble for QERadiant.
Thanks to LORDofDOOM for sending me this next bit ‘o news. Then again, right after he sent this information, I got full access to this news piece in my e-mail, directly from the source. So, WTF am I talking about? I am talking about a new level that is currently in beta development by ThorN called ut_cargo. This level is something we saw earlier in the week, courtesy of screen shots from fourdee of a large container ship. Looks as if ThorN has finally released an early version now that, “most of the major work is done.” Check out some screen shots of ut_cargo by ThorN:
After reading the eloquent words of LORDofDOOM, I will only share a few thoughts and reserve judgment for ThorN’s final version. The initial shock factor of being dropped on a large container ship was very impressive. The collection of large, metal containers and the crane are very well developed. The overall layout is a large one, but can probably be played quite successfully, depending on team spawn points. I can see this map working for all the game modes with the exception of CTF. But there is a possibility it could work.The texturing is quite good and he did pay attention to detail when it comes to some of the different areas of this vessel. Two features I would like to see implemented, a darker sky, considering the rain and the ability to jump overboard and die, hopefully not on purpose. Now all we need is some mapping function to rock the boat. Now that would be cool. You can get more info over on the Clan |XF| Extreme Fear web site and even download it!
