You say you want a Revolution
Again WetWired has raised the bar when it comes to Urban Terror mapping. With the release of Revolution, Wet really increased the overall quality and detail of any level I have seen, for nearly any mod. You can check out what I think of the level in the latest review of Revolution. There was really only one drawback, which really held this map back from really achieving the top spot. Nonetheless, still a very solid level.
The new point release, 1.29f from id Software seems to be getting some good feedback. Urban Terror seems to have the same issues with any point release…waiting on servers to upgrade. The overall numbers for Urban Terror are still very strong, averaging between 500-800 gamers at any one time with only about 200 servers. Great ratio! Go download the point release and upgrade Urban Terror.
Look for a new rant coming on “thinking different” when it comes to gaming. On one media note, Urban Terror was recently featured in Computer Gaming World, in the July 2001 issue on page 74. The mod was featured in an article called CGW Goes to War. While the mod did not receive top billing, we were the only Quake III mod featured in an article dominated by Unreal Tournament and Half-Life.
