Death of another .com
While ShugaShack continues on just staying afloat, they report as just about every other site, that the famed UK gaming site, Barrysworld is closing its doors at the end of the month. No more news, no more servers, no more BW. Everyone will miss it
For those who do not catch the details, there are some new .plan files over on the Urban Terror web site. Flux tries to be as vague as he can, does a fine job at it too! NRGizeR has an update on all the Urban Terror levels currently under development. So if you are behind on what is coming for Beta 2, check it out. And finally I make mention of the Beta 2 testing schedule as the month draws to a close. If you haven’t signed up for a chance at testing the next beta, find the thread in the Urban Terror Forums and leave your information.
After three weeks of bitching and complaining, I was actually able to game over the Internet using my @home cable connection. I spent most of my time at vk-14 Urban Terror [216.136.146.180:27970] testing out my connection. It seems @home admitted to a problem in their network pertaining to this node: 10.0.24.117. It seems my return would jump from double digits to over 380ms. Can you say problem? So the tier two techie put a ‘Priority: Critical’ on it the problem was resolved in about a day. Of course this is was really once noticeable when gaming. Wouldn’t that stand to reason?
It looks like the gang over at ReAction Quake 3 are slowly getting things off the ground. Just how complete are they? Well, it looks much like our early beta and late alpha versions, playable but could use more work. Check out What’s Done if you are interested to see what they have completed to date.
Have you paid much attention to Navy Seals recently? Probably the biggest news, aside from not being able to release their beta, was a e-mail from Eric Webb, all around monkey boy, as I remember him being called from id Software. Like Robert Duffy approaching Urban Terror, looks like id is trying to explore all avenues in terms of realism. What shocks me are some of the response in the NS:CO forum, in which they shared the e-mail. Feel like you wanna be heard? Voice you opinion in their forums. Wanna know what I think? I think it is pretty bad when your community is all pissed off at the game designers and their product. Comments that, if I were the developer would cause me to look elsewhere. But I am not and this is only my opinion. Thankfully the Urban Terror community and SID are quite excited about the prospects of id becoming involved.
Link of the Day comes from GottaBeKD: Hats of Meat is the chosen site. Now you too, can create your own hat of meat, from pork and beef to Canadian bacon and kosher brisket. The FAQ goes on to say, “Except for hats made of beef or other types of jerky, it is not recommended that you ingest any type of meat hat.” Where do people come up with this stuff?
