Smell the Weekend
We have passed ‘humpday,’ so it is all downhill until the weekend from here. Weekends are good for one reason. BRING ON THE LAN PARTY! I will be hanging out at Netzwerk Terror this weekend, looking forward to playing some Urban Terror out on the Internet. 7 hours last week and I will be looking to improve on that this Saturday. I am guessing I will be over at ISPGN or Barrysworld, if they have upgraded by then.
It is very unfortunate that @Home sucks! You should see the ungodly and inconsistent pings I get to local servers. Based on some of the ping plots I have gathered, there are some serious problems in their network. Of course they claim there is “nothing wrong” and that they can see my modem and computer on the network. Wow, I sure feel safe. Wonder if they are into my pr0n collect yet? A buddy of mine who works in the IT field told me to call the cable company and report a cable outage, then, before they get there sabotage the connection so the MUST replace the cable. Of course that only solve a small part of the problem. The bigger part is within their network.
For those Mac users who wanted a mod comparable to Counter-Strike, welcome to Urban Terror? Now, before you rape me for saying Urban Terror is as good as Counter-Strike, let me explain. First, Check out VersionTracker. What is VersionTracker? For those in the PC community is means absolutely nothing. For those with a Mac, it is “The #1 Resource for Macintosh Software.” The reason I bring it up, check out the number of downloads of Urban Terror since January 1, 2001. As I look now, the number stands at 3,713! OMFG! All Macintosh users! Now that number in three days is very astounding, in my opinion. Hopefully that number continues to climb, currently we are #20 on the Top Downloads. For those a bit behind the times who have not downloaded Urban Terror, the Files section has been updated to reflect both the PC and Mac Installers. Dig it!
For those in the mapping community, Paul Jaquays has updated his .plan to reflect the current beta release of GTKRadiant. Of most notable interest was the following comments from Paul,
“The package released yesterday, as a public beta test, includes a version of GTKRadiant for WinX systems that will support both Q3A and Quake III: Team Arena … including the new map area sizes and terrain functions. It also includes a number of support textures, models, manuals, and plug-ins provided by id and a number of 3D game making hobbyists. All in all, it may be one of the best 3D game making tool packages you’ll find anywhere, for any game, for any price. And thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of the folks involved, that price is only the cost of a download.”
So if you are looking at working in new rolling terrain, I suggest you roll over to the GTKRadiant site and download yourself a copy.
And finally The 6th Floor LotD [that stands for Link of the Day]: Comes to us from a collection of weird, but real advertisements, labels and signs. The Gallery of the Absurd. Some strange goings on in there….
