Bring on the Millennium
A cool looking binary date! How’s that for originality for the first post of the year? Happy ‘fraggin’ New Year….enter the real millennium, the year 2001. Wow, where did 2000 go so damn quick? It has been a very busy past few months, with the traffic picking up on The 6th Floor, we will attempt to keep you up to date on the latest news from Urban Terror. Won’t be too difficult since I admin those two web sites. But being this is my soapbox from which I can preach, I have more of a free reign over here to speak out. So what does 2001 hold?
First with NRGizeR onboard at The Floor, look for more Urban Terror related mapping tutorial for QERadiant. A must have for every mapper, especially those just starting out in designing levels. I also plan on featuring more of the up and coming maps which look very promising. Between all the so-so maps and not so maps, there are a few unpolished diamonds which could take the Urban Terror community by storm. For the first offering of the year, check out SweetnutZ new map, casa, which is the featured, ‘Latest Action Fix.’
I also plan on giving the community more of a piece of my mind this year. I did rather well, contributing about 20 articles which were gaming related. Some of which found their way onto PlanetQuake. I love to toil in controversy. We are looking to increase that number for 2001, time permitting. To start the year, I am going to lead off with the ‘Terror in 2000: A look back at Urban Terror.’ Look for that on Friday.
The entire the reason The 6th Floor was open back in 1999, so you could get my opinion on levels for [originally Action Quake 2] Urban Terror. Well, after changing The Floor over, I became caught up in Urban Terror and have neglected review maps on a regular basis. You can expect to see a map or two per week, or as long as there are decent maps to be reviewed. So far, there are enough maps to keep me busy for awhile, but there is not much on the horizon. What happened to all those talented Action Quake 2 level designers?
The Bi-Weekly Poll will remain….well, bi-weekly, if I can keep on schedule and remember to change the question every 14 days. Call me a slacker…hahaha. While the poll doesn’t point Silicon Ice Development in a direction, it does offer some good community feedback, which we can use to see peachy things are going. Look for the first poll for 2001 on January 4.
Hopefully I will be able to coordinate all this and give you daily features, which would really help keep the content fresh and everyone informed, or numbed for that matter. You decide. Contributions are always welcome. If you think you can make a difference, e-mail me and I will include it on The 6th Floor.
Now onto some real news. I have updated the Mapping Tutorial page to feature NRGizeR’s tutorials, which were specifically created for Urban Terror. He will be working on a few now tutorials to begin the yearn, look for a tutorial to cover light and curve in the coming weeks.
